A discount should be easy for the customer to understand and easy for your team to explain later. Start with the agreed offer, apply it to the right part of the sale and check the final total before taking payment.
01. Check what the offer covers
Confirm which products qualify, the discount amount and any conditions your business has set. Check whether the offer applies to one item or the whole order. Ask your manager if the offer is unclear or you do not have permission to apply it.
Add the correct products and quantities before adjusting the price. A discount cannot fix a sale built with the wrong product or pack size.
02. Choose the right control
Use Discount for the relevant item or Order discount for an offer that applies to the order. Follow the fields shown in your workspace and check the resulting amount.
For an approved coupon, use Add Coupon. Confirm that the coupon has actually been accepted. Do not assume entering a code changes the total, and do not add a manual discount as well unless the offer allows both.
03. Read back the final total
Review the items, quantities and discounts with the customer before choosing Process Payment. Compare the total with the offer you intended to apply.
If the result looks wrong, correct it before taking payment. Avoid changing the underlying product price just to give one customer a special offer; that is a different decision from discounting this sale.
04. Finish with a clear record
Complete payment using the method the customer actually used, then check the receipt. If a mistake is discovered after payment, ask your manager to use the appropriate correction process.
