You do not need special commands to work with Tilly. Clear instructions, useful source information, and a careful review make the biggest difference. Start with a specific task, such as preparing your product list, and work through it one step at a time.
01. Say what you want to achieve
Give Tilly a clear starting point. “Help with inventory” is broad. “Prepare this supplier list for product import” explains the job more clearly.
Add any context that could change how the information should be read. Say whether quantities refer to individual items or packs. Point out which prices are supplier costs and which are the selling prices you have chosen. If the document contains information you do not want imported, identify it.
02. Give Tilly the clearest source you have
For product imports, you can use CSV, TSV, or XLSX spreadsheets, as well as PDFs and photos. Choose the source with the clearest product information.
Check that the relevant pages or columns are included. With a photo, make sure the writing is readable and nothing important is cut off. A cleaner source makes the result easier for you to review, even when Tilly is doing the preparation work.
- Keep product names and sizes clear.
- Explain unusual abbreviations or pack quantities.
- Keep your original file for comparison.
03. Use the review to make decisions
Tilly's prepared result is a starting point for your review. Open “Review & import” from the summary card and compare the proposed product details with your source.
Check which rows will create products, which will update existing products, and which have errors. Correct cells and remove unwanted rows before approving the import. Set your selling prices deliberately; the price on a supplier invoice usually represents your cost.
04. Keep the task manageable
When a request is complicated, separate it into smaller decisions. Prepare the product information, check the prices and quantities, then approve the import. If something is unclear, ask a focused follow-up question about that detail.
Do not assume that asking a question has saved a change. Follow the confirmation steps shown in Tillmate, and check the products afterward. Product imports also depend on your access: the Manage inventory permission is required.
